The young rider Anass Ait el Abdia is the 26th member of the roster of Team UAE.
He was born in Casablanca, Morocco, on 1993 and he’s a rouleur-climber 180 cm tall and 66 kg of weight.
The management of the Emirati team decided to sign Anass also considering the importance of his improvement path: he spent two years (2014-2015) in the UCI World Cycling Center in Aigle.
Ait el Abdia is the Moroccan national champion and in his career he obtained other two victories (Tinghir stage in the Tour du Maroc 2014 and the Challenge du Prince 2015), however his best achievement are the participation in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where he obtained the 47th place, and the 22nd place in the UCI World Championship 2016 after having been member of the main breakaway of the race and having succeeded in reaching the arrival in the head group of 26 riders.
Giuseppe Saronni, team UAE’s general manager, explained: “We’re happy to welcome Anass in our team as young rider with the potential talent for improving his skills.
His cycling course is well certified by having spent two years in the UCI World Cycling Center, a path which is similar to the one of a former rider of the team, who’s Tsgabu Grmay: it would be great if Ait el Abdia could follow this course of improvement.
Anass is well determinated and the team’s staff in charge of the evaluations and the performances reported that his value are good enough to allow him to aim to an interesting level of competitiveness“.
